Get Involved...In 1995, with donations totaling over $30,000, Families in Transition purchased its first inner city house in Trenton, NJ. A second house was purchased a few years later with more donated funds. This program was started to bridge the gap for those families that had fallen on hard times and were in danger of being homeless. Families in Transition would give families that transitional period ‘to get back on their feet’. Families in Transition has been in existence for ten years now and has helped many different families. It has been sustained, by generous donations given by concerned fellow citizens, for the strengthening of families. Looking to the future, the Board of Trustees wishes to expand FIT to reach even more families. Recent studies by key community organizations, such as the Mercer Alliance to End Homelessness (www.merceralliance.org) say that Trenton, NJ has ‘the second highest rate of family homelessness in the nation’. We, at Families in Transition, want to purchase more homes, offer more services and strengthen more families to build greater communities. We need your help!
